Frequently Asked Questions

What is locking plate and when is it used?

go back

Unlike a nail, locking plate is fixed on a bone. Together with the entered screws, it builds a kind of bridge between the opposite ends of the fracture.

Locking plate is pre-shaped to match the specific anatomical surface of the bone to which it was designed. The plate design and proper use of the screws enable also restoring the articular surface and its rigid stabilization.

Therefore, plates are used for the treatment of meta-epiphyseal comminuted fractures of long bone and in case of fracture malunion and non-union after treatment with other methods.
